Blue Roots         bluegrass band     What's new

Blue Roots shares the stage with Chris Hillman and Herb Pedersen! See our schedule

May 17th 2008

The others in Blue Roots would like to congratulate Ed and Linda on their recent nuptials.  Linda was a beautiful bride, and we all wondered what she was doing standing beside Ed.  We had a rousing bluegrass jam at the reception.

We're excited that the start of the bluegrass festival season is upon us.  Ed, Geoff, and Dave are heading to central Virginia for the Graves Mountain festival over the last weekend of May.  The Blue Roots guys will be popping up at Wind Gap, Gettysburg, Benton, and Newfoundland over the summer.  Dave has a family gig to play in Colorado in mid-July, and Ed & Linda will be heading to Wyoming to see his Dad and jam with the locals.  Geoff and Denise will be hitting the festivals in style this year with a new camper.

Our next public appearances are in August. AFBA Festival on the 1st and on the 22nd, opening for Chris Hillman and Herb Pedersen at the Sellersville Theater.  We are stoked about this gig, as Chris and Herb are heroes of ours.  Chris was a founding member of The Byrds, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Manassas, and Desert Rose.  Herb has played and recorded with everyone.  A short list would include Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, Vince Gill, Johnny Rivers, Dan Fogelberg, James Taylor, Gordon Lightfoot, and John Prine.  We are honored to share a stage with these guys.

Blue Roots would like to send out best wishes to our friend Ed Fortuna, who has back surgery coming up in the next few weeks.  Ed is a great flatpicking guitar player and promoter of bluegrass music.  Get well soon, Ed.
